Creative Director + Brand Designer

I believe design, great design, carries purpose and intentionality. Otherwise, it’s window dressing.

Creative polymath bringing substance to brand marketing design

Design Philosophy

I prefer to approach every new project as an opportunity to start from scratch. Lean into the existential portion of design. Why does it exist? What is its purpose?

Anyone can create a sufficient design, especially with AI assistance. The essence of design is to create a connection with whom the message is intended. And where marketing is concerned, the design needs to carry the brand's tone, voice, and personality.

I rely on seasoned problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and empathy to create a pathway to the specific audience.

I pull inspiration from everywhere. Rather than relying on design trends, I look for unique approaches and solutions. And the reference materials to inform this can come from anywhere. This doesn't mean eschewing familiar patterns that end users are accustomed to. It means creating something approachable and recognizable, yet singular.

How I work

I'm equally comfortable working solo, or collaborating with a team, or cross-collaborating across departments. Easy to work with, but not blindly agreeable. Professional, but if comfortable with each other, I'm going to hit you with my world-famous dry wit. Always willing to assist, however if you position something as a priority that isn't, then that willingness comes on a sliding scale. I joke a lot, but when it comes down to the work, I'm all about business. I'm polite, patient, and considerate, so I can meet stakeholders where they are.

I view every situation from a nuanced perspective. Nothing is black and white, except #000000 and #FFFFFF.

Deadlines are more than a suggestion. The goal is always to deliver the best product in the time allowed.

TL;DR — I'm great. You should hire me.

Experience

I was born out of a need to be scrappy with my approach to design. Like Michael Bierut meets MacGyver. This background has led to meeting each project with efficiency. It's also instilled a figure-it-out and get-it-done attitude. Need to use a new tool to get it done? I'll learn it. Oh, there is no tool to get it done. I'll get inventive, or I'll build it — thanks AI.

Diversity in my roles and industries positions my overview of projects from a higher altitude, and allows me to visualize the approach from multiple angles.
